The Beginning

In 2001, while co-owner Steve Wright was in Zimbabwe, not only did he bungee jump from 365 feet off of the Border Bridge spanning the crocodile-infested Zambezi River at Victoria Falls, he also ate on a hot rock for the very first time. It was then that Steve felt the experience of cooking steak on a stone was so unique and inspiring that he left Africa determined to bring this concept to America.

Two years later, Steve began selling rock cooking systems to restaurants all over the world. In 2008, he convinced long-time friend Doug Quist to join him in opening Rok Bistro Stone-Age Fondue and the Rok Steakhouse in downtown Sunnyvale, CA. It has been quite a journey for both Steve and Doug and we hope you will enjoy the wonderful aroma, delicious flavor, healthy aspects, and the fun ambiance that we have tried to create for our guests here at Rok Steakhouse.
